The 3PL Quote Checklist

A quote that fits on one line is not a quote, it is a hook. Tick off what your quote actually states in writing — this tells you what is missing, which gaps decide the total, and gives you the email to send back. Free to use, with nothing to sign up for.

Part 1

What the quote contains

Seven lines, in writing. Tick only what the quote actually states — not what you assume, and not what someone said on a call.

Part 2

What you gave them

A quote is only as good as its brief. A provider who quotes without asking for these is guessing, and the number will move once your stock is in their building.

Part 3

Three things that should make you slow down

Tick any that apply to this quote.

Why these seven and not others. This checklist covers the structure of a quote, not whether the rates are good — there is no independent UK 3PL rate index, so no tool can tell you whether a number is fair. What it can tell you is whether you have been given enough to compare at all. Three lines quietly move the total more than the headline rate does: the packaging mark-up, whether carriage is passed through at cost or carries a margin, and any minimum-volume commitment. The exit terms matter most of all — they decide how expensive it is to be wrong about the other two.
